Gene Way Jr.

Gene was a blessing to many people. He made positive differences in everyone he met. We will miss our fellowship, our many hours of laughter from his stories, our many shared meals and trips, our times of relaxation looking out onto the river from the comfort of his beloved back porch. But most of all, we will miss his smile and sense of humor and love of family. He was a great man and was dearly loved by us.

Gene was a good friend of mine on Charleston's waterfront, particularly polite, honest and helpful. Different from many waterfront characters, Gene unselfishly gave his all to the betterment of port as a whole, for all to benefit, with special attention given to the ultimate customer -- the shipper, who paid the freight.
