Genevieve “Tootie” Wissner, age 90 of Manistee, Michigan died Wednesday August 12, 2015 at the Cedar Ridge Adult Foster Care home in Brethren. 
She was born on December 1, 1924 in Manistee, Michigan daughter of the late Frank & Rose (Zatarga) Tyron. She was a member of the National Honor Society and a graduate of Manistee High School with the class of 1943. She married Ray T. Wissner on June 14, 1947 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2001. During WWII she had worked at the Chrysler (Hell Cate Dive Plant) for 3 years. For 2 years she worked as a type setter at Morton Salt Company of Manistee. For 20 years she was employed with the Manistee Public Elementary School System as a tutor in reading and mathematics during this 20 years she was very active with many school functions. During her lifetime, she worked on numerous fund drives for organizations such as the Cancer Society, Muscular Dystrophy, March of Dimes and Cystic Fibrosis. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Manistee, a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and also a member of the Catholic Community of Manistee (Guardian Angels Catholic Church). 
Tootie is survived by two sons: Wayne (Sheila) Wissner of Bear Lake, MI, and Charles (Becky) Wissner of Manistee, MI, Two daughters: Linda Hall of Manistee, MI and Sharon Tabaczka of Grand Rapids, MI, her grandchildren, Marissa Grossenbach, Aaron & Chad Wissner and Alex Tabaczka, and five great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, a brother & sister-in-law; Frank & Ines Tyron and by a brother & sister-in-law, William & Mary Tyron, her brother Joseph Tyron and one sister, Virginia Wetherell. 
Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Richard Schaeffer celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. 
Relatives and friends will pray the Evening Vigil Service at 8:00 PM on Sunday evening at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee where the family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Monday morning, from 10:00 AM until the time of leaving for the church at 10:40 AM.
