Dr. M&M was an incredible educator whom I will never forget. I was an avid reader and he set up a reading competition where he would take the winners to Friendly´s. I was one of the winners. He exuded such warmth and joy. You could tell he valued children and believed in them. Avery Street School/Phillip R. Smith was an incredible place to be as a child. May Mr. M&M truly rest in peace. We remember just like it was yesterday walking into a classroom at Avalon Elementary School knowing we had a substitute and hoping that it was Mr. M&M. He was the very best substitute that we ever had in all our years of schooling anywhere. He was so caring, empathetic, funny and sweet to his students and everyone he came across.
