George R. “Bob” Reese, 88, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, June 23 at Ben Hur Health, Crawfordsville, after a long battle with dementia. Bob was born August 15, 1932 in Kiowa, Kansas to Pearly Albert Reese and Edith Opal Pratt Reese. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1950. He married the love of his life, Delores Callahan on April 20, 1952 in Fountain County. They were married 69 years.
Bob retired from R.R. Donnelley in 1994 after 44 years. They owned and operated Dee’s Laundry Service from 1978 to 1981. His memberships included the Crawfordsville Jaycees, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge and Seniors Men Golf League.
Bob loved to play golf and especially loved watching his own children play sports along with his grandchildren. Bob was an avid Wabash football fan and enjoyed working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Delores, Crawfordsville, son, Robert (Denise) Reese, Crawfordsville, daughter, Carla (Jerry) Walters, New Market. Bob was blessed with four grandchildren, Jason Reese, Carmel, Morgan (Landon) Morris, Ladoga, Mandy Walters, Lafayette, Stacy Walters, Crawfordsville. Bob also has six great-grandchildren, Beckett, Benson, Harrison, Brynley, Everett and Miles.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Pearly and Opal Reese, sisters, June Turpin, Josephine Hole and Joyce Servies.
Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, June 26 two hours before the service (1:30 to 3:30) at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM with Pastor Chuck Callahan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South. Family encourages the wearing of masks if you have not been vaccinated. Masks will be available at the funeral home. Please respect the family’s safety.
