Cynthia and Family,
Our sincere thoughts are with your family. We hope as time passes you think not about your loss, but rather all you gained in sharing "Uncle" George. Many people go through life without garnering the respect or friendship of others. While George's life was cut short, he had a life full of fun, friendship and love and was loved by many. We hope your memories of George brings comfort during difficult times. Love & Peace, Gary & Beth Abely

Dear Family and Friends of My Uncle George,
Thank you for sharing your memories and thus allowing me a greater insight to the man I called Uncle George. I was not privelaged to know him as most of you as I lived so far away. He was always special to me as my Uncle. It is so nice to read how special he was to his family, neighbors, community and friends.
Several years ago I visited and was greeted so warmly and lovingly and I knew then that I had missed out on a very special side of my...

To the Abely family,
Ever since I was younger my dad and I would stop in for a quick beer and a coke. I used to make a snow man in his back yard almost every winter. George taught me to shoot when i was 11 years old and I loved whenever he came shooting because he would tell me how much better I am then my dad. Even when my dad and I would go camping every year he would think of me by packing a brown paper bag of canned potatoes, spam, and anchovies.(Even though I hate anchovies he swore...

To the Abely family,
Memories of George bring me back to the great times we had while ice fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee.
More than once, while someone was trying to land a fish, a bunch of us would huddle around to watch and George would describe exactly what was happening in the unseen depths below the ice. Including what the fish was thinking.
Other random memories from days when the fish were not biting:

Dear Cynthia,
How sorry Ron and I are to hear of George's death and how difficult these days must be. May you find comfort in your memories and in your children and grandchildren.
We go back a long way, but what I most remember about George is his weed free garden. I could use a little help from the gardener in the sky this year.
Please accept our deepest sympathy.

To the Abely family,
I am genuinely sorry about the loss of your husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle…and my friend. These short words cannot begin to describe the impact George had on my family and the many memories he has left.
A coach is defined as someone who teaches or mentors others. As such, that's why I began calling him by this nickname about 15 years ago. Over the last few days since he passed, I've recalled many of the things "Coach" taught me.

Cynthia,
I am so glad that I got to know George over the past few years.
He gave me tips on fishing and taught me to shoot for the first time. I remember being nervous handling the gun but his kindness and patience guided me through and by the end of the day I hit the "x" out of the center of the target.
Whenever we went camping Marty insisted on borrowing Georgie's one burner stove (even though we had a new 2 burner at home). It was the ritual of visiting him pre-camping and...
