Not sure what to say?

Dear Everyone in Doc's Guest Book,
Thank you for your loving messages and support. It's very sad when both your parents are gone, but your friendships help with the healing.

Doc was as much an institution in Scottsville as many of his friends who have passed before him. He was a fighter and a survivor who took the time to make a difference in so many of the lives who surrounded him. He will be missed but never forgotten as Doc Backus, a great father, grand father, brother, friend and of course husband. God Bless Doc and all his buddies who now are together in heaven along with his beautiful wife Ruth.

Steve and family

So sorry to hear about your dad - our thoughts are with you at this time

Jim and Karen

My deepest sympathy to the Backus family for the loss of your beloved father.

To Debbie, Mike, Steve & Mark:
Our prayers are with your family as all of the memories surround you at this time. Now Ruth & Doc are again reunited like our parents and all their friends. I'm sure Doc and my father will have something to say to each other, as usual. Mom and Ruth will finally get a chance to give each other a big hug with lots of tears.
May peace be with you.

Murray~
I am sorry for your loss! Please take comfort in knowing that your father is now with your Mom. May he rest in peace.
much love and prayers for all of your family!
Peace be with you-
Love you always,
Tracy (Howe)Miceli

Debbie, Steve, Mike and Mark:
I am sorry for your loss. I will always cherish the great times we had playing together in the neighborhood and our folks who allowed us to share the experiences of life in our little corner of the world. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Debbie, Steve, Mike, Mark and families: Mike told me that Doc passed away watching ESPN. That is fitting. When Doc showed up at a sandlot within 100 miles of Scottsville, Mumford, or Caledonia everyone knew he was there by his imposing presence. But he was generally silent (he might whisper the occasional "encouragement"). He was busy watching and he saw everything. I am sure the Backus family can attest that he saw everything! I also believe he likely shared his observations...

Debbie, Steve, Mike & Murray,
We are very saddened to hear of the passing of your dad. Doc will always have a fond place in the hearts and memories of the Hoyack family. I know that today, he and my dad are getting together in heaven, having a cold one, watching a ballgame, and bragging to each other about their grandkids. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Chuck Hoyack
