Not sure what to say?

I worked with George at Waldenbooks in New Port Richey, Florida. George was a smart and funny guy ! It was always great to be around him. Once we "double dated"....he with his wife and me with my girlfriend....and went to see Brian Wilson on his "Pet Sounds" tour. I know I posted the same memory in the past, but it's always a fresh and lasting memory to me.

Last night our grandson Rory 4, made his first shot in Georges's hoops. In 2010 we put a new basketball goal at our house in Leawood Kansas in memory of George's passion for basketball. Can't think of anyone wanting the ball more to score than George.

I worked with George at Waldenbooks in Port Richey,Florida. George was one of those special guys that one rarely has the pleasure of meeting. With George and his wife, Vicky, and my girlfriend Cathy, we attended the Brian Wilson PET SOUNDS concert together. Cathy and I also drove to Mount Dora, Florida, to see one of his winning plays performed. George was a great guy and very intelligent. We have all lost someone very special.

ETHAN--I am so happy to read your note and good luck moving forward. . George is with us EVERY day. And you have proved that to be true.

It's been over three years since Mr.Bastable passed away but he's still impacting my life today. I'm now a sophomore at USF, he was my english teacher in 7th and 8th grade at Pineview Middle School. When I was in 7th grade I was obese but I was tall. A few friends encouraged me to start playing basketball so I did. Mr. Bastable noticed that I enjoyed basketball and he told me to tryout for the team in 8th grade and that I should start applying myself in school. I didn't make the team in 8th...

I became aware just this morning of George's passing. My sister Debbie forwarded the obituary. We were both unaware he was ill, or had passed. Ironically today is July 4th. Also ironic that my mother was born on the 4th of July. She (Mary Johnson) passed away earlier this year, January 16th.

George was like a young brother to me growing up in Florissant, Mo. We were play pals in our early formative years when our families lived on Durwood Drive. Even at a young age, I could tell...

Good to read some more of the warm memories from George and Vicki's friends. My wife Betty and I were fortunate to take the George and Vicki tour of Hawaii too. Besides some of the afore mentioned activities, we did some body surfing, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay,swimming at Here To Eterinity Beach, walking up Diamond Head, lunch at Hard Rock Cafe and tennis. And that was only the first day. Throw in another week with side trips to Maui and the Big Island, and it was by far the best vacation...

Dear Vicki, I am shocked to hear about George. I did not know he was unwell. What a great guy he was, and a great friend to everyone he knew him, with a joie de vivre that cannot be matched. My heart is with you this holiday season. Lots of love, sparkle

Vicki
