George Houston Beard

George Houston Beard age 55 of Portland, TN died Friday, March 6, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel Beard and his sister, Marianne Beard Wheeler. George is survived by his wife, Tonya Hoskins Beard; sons, George A. Beard, Alex H. Beard, Christopher L. Beard; sister, Marlene D. Beard-Smith. He has many devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. George was a native of Atlanta, GA and a 1982 graduate of Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA. He lived in the Pensacola, FL area for many years, where he worked in construction and met the love of his life, Tonya. They were married almost twenty-three years. The Beard family has been living in Portland, TN for nine years. George's favorite passions were bowling, golfing, cheering for the University of GA and eating at the famous Varsity in Atlanta. George will always be remembered as a devoted family man and a meaningful presence in any room.  George Beard will be greatly missed, he was a good man.
