Not sure what to say?

I learned of George's passing only lately, but notes that Beatirce survives. I knew them both at WMU from the library and history, and recall many conversations with George where our interests in Aquitaine and Catalunya overlapped. A competent, insightful historian and recall him fondly. His contributions are cited in my Tarragona Vortex.

Dear Bea, Valerie, Rebecca and Theresa, With some delay the sad news of George's death reached us in the Netherlands. Please accept our condolences. We will write a letter to Bea.

I met George nearly 60 years ago when I was a student in his Greek History class. Later, as a colleagues in the history department we became good friends. In recent years we would get together for lunch in Paris. George was a wonderful teacher, an astute scholar and a dear friend. He will be missed by many.

George was always a good friend and an industrious scholar, an essential member of the Medieval Institute over the years, from, I think, its inception, and crucial to its success as an international presence in the field of medieval studies. I am contributing to Loaves and Fishes in his memory.

I had Prof Beech for a number of history course while an undergrad a WMU. I even picked grapes for him a his vineyard. He was a wonderful teacher and had genuine interest in the success of his students.

Such a kind gentle man. George you will be missed and remembered for many years

We send our love and heartfelt condolences to Bea and Becky. George was a kind friend and a wonderful colleague. We will miss him.

Valerie, Becky and Theresa, I was very sorry to read of your father's passing. I will always remember his and your mother's gracious hospitality when I visited Paris while a student on Foreign Study. Such an interesting man! My heart goes out to you all. With love, Fran
