Not sure what to say?

I so enjoyed getting to know "our book man" George, and was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He always arrived with a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips. He was a wonderful, gentle, and giving man and I offer my sincere sympathy to his family. We will all miss him here at Friendship Central School.

We only had the pleasure of meeting George a handful of times when he was in Massachusetts visiting for a holiday. We were fortunate and thankful to be invited to these family gatherings. George was always the one person who made us feel like we were a part of the family and we could always find something to talk to him about with such ease it was like talking to a friend you've known your whole life. To say we were blessed to know him is an understatement. Our thoughts are with all of those...

The day George and I became family

I knew George for about 15 years. I met him the last day of my freshman year at Hartwick. I can't ever remember him without a smile. He was a wonderful father-in-law. He listened, supported and didn't judge. He let go of his decision making role as a father and joined the ride as a cheerleader for our new family. He loved his grandchildren, my babies, and would spend his weekend visits reading and rereading the same books- sometimes 30 times a day. He never said "later" or "pick a different...

We were shocked and saddened to hear of George's passing. We've always looked forward to seeing him when he'd come in with some new books for us. No matter which company he was with at the time, he was always the ultimate professional with a wonderful demeanor. So pleasant and friendly -- he was a light for the world. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know him. My sincere condolences to your family. We will miss our friend, George.

We remember George when he coached little league baseball quite a few years ago.I saw him recently and all he talked about was his grandchildren and how great they are. He said he was going to see them at Easter and how much he was looking foreward to that. Our sympathy is with you all.He will be missed

We were sorry to hear about George. He has been coming to our school for quite some time with his books! We will miss him! Thinking of his family at this time. - Clymer Central School -

I would like to pass on my condolences to the Beres family. I remember George, as that coach who made HS hockey at WSW enjoyable to officiate. As a referee who worked numerous games at Leisure Rinks, George was always a gentleman first, with a very competitive attitude and a friend! His presence on the on and off the ice earned George respect from all who had an opportunity to deal with him. George, on or off the bench - you will be missed. God Bless you and the Beres family!

George was one of the best coaches West Hockey ever had,He will be missed.

Decent, Lovely, Kind man. Greatest Girls' Tee Ball Coach in history. Fine neighbor always ready with a smile and a joke. He will be missed. Our deepest condolences to Kelly, Scott, Stacy, Wendy & All.
