Alta and I are very saddened by the news of George's death. I was one of his graduate students and he was a fantastic mentor and friend. I was not the best graduate student, but George never gave up on me. I owe my career to him and I wish I could tell him that one more time. There are so many times when he said something or made a suggestion to me that as I look back turned out to be pivotal moments of my life. He and Julie were wonderful people. They watched out for Alta and me and...

Jack and I were saddened to hear of George's passing. We met George at UMD and Jack and he went on to graduate school in Vermillion where they roomed together. He and Jack had many good times, including a beer making "experiment" in their basement apartment. He was something of a "party guy" in those days, but he did very well for himself and his family and it sounds like he made many other good friends along the way. We too are sorry we didn't keep in touch over the years, but we...

George was my best friend growing up. I don't say that lightly. When I read about his passing, I thought about all the kids that I had known and he came out on top. He definitely was my Best Friend. We had hundreds of adventures down by the creek catching crawfish, building forts, sliding on cardboard in the winter, playing softball on Cromwell Drive, walking home in the middle of the street after seeing the movie “The Thing” at the Boulevard, making our own fireworks after lighting off all...

George was a valuable member of the Woodbridge Property Owners Board of Directors for a number of years as Vice President, Lake and Dam. His contributions and guidance helped make the Woodbridge Lake the neighborhood centerpiece it is. We miss you, George.

George will be missed. He and his lovely wife, Julie, had been very kind and generous to our family since our arrival into the Woodbridge neighborhood in 1988. Coming from Minnesota, he knew how to make fun of my Norwegian ancestry. Our deepest condolences to the Brownell family. Bob and Claudia Thoresen and Family

Dr. Brownell was a splendid fishing partner. His whit and humor was ever-present. He was truly a fine man. My sympathy is extended to the entire family. Dr. Mark Clasen

Tara, Brian and Family,

I have many fond memories of your father when you guys lived on Stratford Drive. I wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you in your time of grief.

It was a pleasure being in the presence of Mr. Brownell. He had a sense of humor that would make you giggle all day. His favorite saying for me was, "Where you going" and "What are you gonna do". I will always cherish that! He will truly be missed and "Never" forgotten! I love and miss you! Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there's a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need,...
