Dear Rachael and Family, I was so terribly sad to read of George's passing. I am so glad that Heather (Dooley) Rucker and I had those couple of visits with the two of you here recently. George was such a gregarious fellow, always with a big smile for everyone. I know he was certainly loved by my son, Stephen, who considered "Mr. Buford his buddy." at Snowhill back in the early '70s. I understnad that you stopped in our office Monday morning and I'm sorry I wasn't here to speak with you,...

I'm sorry to hear about mr. buford, he was a good friend to daddy and i enjoyed the times we would sit on the porch and talk. i know you and the girls and grandchildren will miss him dearly.

Rachael,
You know that George and you hold a very special place in my heart. I will miss him and his wisdom terribly. I so enjoy coming to your house and listening to him go on and on about things, and only you and I know what I am talking about, and George too. Lord, I thought he was going to have a heart attack a few times myself. But you and I will keep up our talks and George will just listen now. I love you both. Marilyn
