Not sure what to say?

Dear Mary Jean,

Earl and I just wanted you to know that we are thinking of you. George was a very special man with such a gift of kindness and compasion. I will always remember the night after my extensive surgery, waking up and seeing George kneeling in prayer at my bed. I was so touched and appreciative. I also appreciated the kindness and support that you both showed me during my recovery.

Our family was blessed to have George serve as a minster to 4 generations of our family. He was a true shepherd and advisor and will be missed.

Rev Carlton will always be remembered with affection by my family for the comfort he provided during our trying times. He was an inspiration to all who had the opportunity to have known him. I admired him greatly for the man he was and the example he set. He was one of the finest men I've ever had the opportunity to know!

I remember very well George Herbert Carlton through our high school days in Wauchula and what a fine gentleman he was at all times. (Yes, we all called him George Herbert). Always such a pleasant person to be around; never loud nor negative about anything; absolute respect for the teachers and others in authority. In sum, a fine gentleman destined for success in the Church Ministry. My deepest sympathy to the family in your loss.

Most of my early memories are of First United Methodist Church of Oviedo and the Carltons. I remember when you went with us on the boat to Silver Springs, and Pete (and maybe Jerry, I can't remember that part) babysittng the boys on Sundays. I know Mom and Daddy will be happy to see Rev. Carlton in heaven. I...
