Not sure what to say?

George...thank you for sharing the greatness of your mind with me and for always understanding our work. Like others, I have lost a mentor and friend. But I have not lost the inspiration you left behind.

George was one a best friend form our graduate school days at Purdue. He was a great friend, father, husband, researcher, teacher, a role model for many of us. My prayers, thoughts, and heart are with Anne, Sarah, and Ben.

George Casella was an excellent colleague. Always enthusiastic and positive, extremely knowledgeable and interested in using statistics to solve real problems. In the last few years, we worked together on landmine detection and hyperspectral image analysis. He made very significant, real impacts in both areas. I feel fortunate to have worked with him.

I had the fortune of knowing George while we were Ph.D. students at Purdue during 1973-77. He helped me select a 10-speed bike, we played tennis together many times. Even though we did not keep in touch, I am saddened by this news. I am so sorry for your loss!
