George J. Conides, 85, of Tarpon Springs, Fl, and formerly of Manchester, died May 23, 2006, at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, after a period of failing health.
Born in Manchester, NH on August 3, 1920, he was the son of John L. and Helen (Zogopoulos) Conides.
Mr. Conides graduated from Manchester High School Central, Class of 1938 and New Hamsphire College of Accounting and Commerce, Class of 1947.
During World War II, Mr. Conides served with the United States Army in Southern Philippines and was awarded the bronze star.
Early in his career, Mr. Conides worked as a certified public accountant and with the Internal Revenue Service, Portsmouth, NH. Later, he owned and operated the Coca-Cola and Canada Dry Bottling Plant, Claremont, NH, until his retirement.
He was a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Mr. Conides was a past commissioner with the Claremont NH Police Department. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1658, Florida, past president and lifetime member of AHEPA, #16 George E. Washington Chapter, Tarpon Springs, FL. In addition, he was a member of the Bektash Temple, Concord, NH and served as a mason.
He was married to his first wife, Anna (Urban) Conides who died September 22, 1980.

Family members include his wife of fourteen years, Paula G. (Vomvoris) Conides of Tarpon Springs, Florida, his daughter, Mrs. (Yiannis) Mary Tsartolias of Montreal, Canada; three grandchildren, Andrew Tsartolias, Christiana Tsartolias, and Bettina Tsartolias all of Montreal, Canada; his brother, Ernest J. Conides and his wife Rachel of Keene, NH; his sister, Rev. Mrs. Nicholas C. (Euphoria) Manikas of Hyannis, MA; three step-sons, Peter Limberis ,George Limberis and Jeffrey Limberis all of Tarpon Springs, Florida.; and his two sisters-in-law, Antonia Conides of Pfafftown, NC and Olga Conides of Surprise, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers Gregory J. Conides and Andrew J. Conides; and a sister, Constance (Conides) Bogalis.

Services: Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH.
The Trisagion service will take place Friday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home with the Rev. Nicholas C. Manikas. .
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10AM in Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
