Not sure what to say?

I was just notified of George's untimely passing this December. I knew George and Claudia for only a short time, when we all lived in Albuquerque, many, many years ago. We have kept in touch for almost 30 years via Christmas cards. I'll always remember the delight on George's face when, in the ABQ airport, I reported on Fenner's 10 new puppies, born while I was housesitting. A fine man, a caring father, and Claudia's loving partner.

To the Covington Family,

I haven't seen George since after college (a long, long time) but have thought of him over the years with a great deal of fondness. George was always such a lively and enjoyable person. I am so glad that he had a meaningful life and wonderful family. My family is thinking of the Covingtons and I hope that the love and support you are receiving comforts your hearts.

I had the privilege of serving as the Executive Driector of the Uptown Shelter when George was on the Board. In fact, he was on the selection committee that hired me, so I was always grateful for his decisions and his input. In my semi-retirement years, I was again privileged to serve George and his family delivering the Charlotte Observer each day. I delighted in the occasions when George would be out walking the dog when I came by and had an opportunity to chat with him. I am so sorry...

I am so sorry to hear about George's passing. We went to law school together, but we lost touch over the years. You have my family's deepest sympathies.

Claudia,
Although I did not know George, I know how dearly he was loved through my close friendship with the Anders. I am so sorry for your family and my prayers are with all of you.

Claudia, Abigail, Alec, Tyler, and to everyone who loved and knew George,
I regret this loss knowing he meant so much to you all. You all are a beautiful part of the family and it saddens me to lose a relative. I know that grace, the spirit of the best of his accomplishments and of who he has been for you will leave you with inspiration by which to live.

I was George's Personal Fitness Trainer at the Crown Athletic Club in the mid to late '90's. I was fond of George, he was a great client and felt like he was a friend. Never a session went by without lots of laughs, many directed at me by George. I moved on in '99 to new things but I occassionally think back to my years in Charlotte and my work with George. I was shocked when I got a call from another former trainer of George's from the club. From how I saw George, he was a good and...

I did not consider it work to caddie for George Covington infrequently on the golf course. He treated me as a friend and partner in his competitive desire to win each match, and enjoy the day, the game, the moment. When he won, he gave me too great a share of the credit. When he had a less-than-good round, he took all the blame. No matter the outcome, he played to win and loved the crucible of competition. I knew him but a short time, and my loss is great. I can't imagine the magnitude of the...

Tyler & Family, So sorry for your lose. May his memory be an eternal blessing and comfort to you now and always.
