May 26, 2024 Bob Wainner - Plano, Texas I served under George Coyne when he was a LCDR on the CVW-6 Staff onboard the U.S. Aircraft Carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Mediterranean Sea back in 1973. I was a Yeoman and sat next to LCDR Coyne & got to know him quite well. He was an outstanding Naval Officer & Aviator, a Gentleman who had a great sense of humor. He always treated me with the utmost respect. I was very sad when I read about his passing. George was a fellow member of the Mount Vernon Amateur Radio Club and a good friend. George was my roommate on a number of our yearly treks to the Dayton Hamvention where we would share a room. He IS missed.
