George A. Cromarty, 87, of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, passed away May 18, 2023. He lived his entire life in Point Pleasant Beach, where he raised his family. Hard working, resourceful, and always true to his word, George owned and operated an excavation company for more than 40 years. He took great pride in his work, but his passion was supporting his family.
He is survived by his son, Jeff (and daughter-in-law, Loredana) of Lambertville, NJ; Jacqui Glass (and son-in-law, Rob) of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ; Jill Fairweather (and son-in-law, Robert) of Brick, NJ; and Jeni Danko (and son-in-law, Dave) of Clayton, NC; and ten grandchildren: Ali, Megan, Christie, Kayla, Ethan, Will, Ben, Christopher, Lucas, and Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Leask of Wall, NJ and brother Robert, of Middletown, NJ, and nieces and nephews. His youngest sister, Roseann Mayer, is deceased. His long-time partner, Margaret Palen of Barnegat, NJ is also grieving his loss.
Wearing a “Beach” football jersey does not obligate one to love the ocean, but George found solitude and joy in water – whether it be the Atlantic Ocean on one of his early morning strolls on the boardwalk, the beaches of Florida, a stream in the Berkshires, his backyard pool, or golf course water hazards that temporarily claimed his errant shots. Most of all, he loved sitting quietly with his children around him.
In addition to his commitment to his family, George also served on the Point Pleasant Beach Town Council and in the Lions Club, but he was quick to lend his muscle and perspective to anyone who needed it.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made in his honor to St. Gregory’s Pantry in Point Pleasant Beach, the Summit Speech School in New Providence, NJ, or the charity of one’s choice.
Cremation is private and under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Rt. 88, Brick, NJ.

I spent some summer vacation time with George and his family. Our children were young and had a good time together. George and his family welcomed us warmly and we made some wonderful memories. We both had sons, mine Jeffrey & his Geoffrey. Miss you big guy and thanks for being my cousin. George's father, Alex, and my mom, Beatrice, were brother and sister. I still remember our cousin reunions. On which we were at the shore, and we watched the Kentucky Derby. Thanks for the memories.

Hardest worker sun up to sun down. Always had a goal and focused on that until achieved. Wanted what he wanted and was sure he would do everything to get that for him and his family. Love you DAD thank you for all your hard work and your never ending providing. He helped to instill the work ethic and compassion in our jobs to us. You will be missed. Especially the car rides, the diners, the ice cream and of course Mueller's Bakery runs.

I was introduced to George by his long time and good friends Betty Lee and George Haarlander. He is truly a remarkable man we became friends over his last Thirty five years and he made every morning a contest to see who would bring coffee the earliest ( he always won). He was a mentor and always had good advise on most anything if you asked yet never unsolicited. You could count on Greoge. If you didnt know how to do something he would jump off his Machine and demonstrate. I will miss him and...

George was a great friend since high school in PPB. I remember throwing him a pass in the Rumson game of 1953 and he ran the ball in for a touch down winning the game. Rest in peace my dear friend.
