I am saddened by Smokey's passing. Truly a great human being. He was always encouraging, loving, mentoring, smiling and simply very nice man. I was one of the lucky ones top get a Gold Star and it was very uplifting. God bless Smokey and may God comfort the family. Ted J. Stambolitis - Flight Deck.

Sweet Donna and family. What a joy to meet & know Smokey through WordSeekers Life Group at Northside Baptist Church. He was so kind, always wore a smile and was a great Bible teacher, when subbing for Randy. Prayers for you all. May God hold you close until you are reunited. May wonderful memories fill your hearts. Much love and sincere sympathy.

I enjoyed getting to know Smokey through our shared work to improve roads in Lexington County along with Johnny Jeffcoat, Mayor Randy Halfacre and many others. He was a delight to be around and so passionate about helping his community! I am praying for his family during this time. RIP, friend!

Smokey was the most genuinely nice person you will ever know. Cindy and I always enjoyed time spent with him and Alecia. Sad, he is gone, very sad day.

Smokey was one of four old timers who still had the energy to play racquetball at the Lexington Leisure Center at 6 a.m. five mornings a week. None of us have that much stamina now but we miss it and will miss Smokey's faithful friendship.
He added a lot to our newspapers, the Lexington County Chronicle and the Dispatch News, over the years with his eagle-eyed investment reporting on local businesses.
A fellow Rotarian and Baylor School alumnus prizes the "You Deserve a Gold Star" coin he gave me.
Smokey is leaving our community a better place through his many civic endeavors.
