Not sure what to say?

Mr. George Diab will always be remembered as a very good man. He gave me my start in TV News and I will always be grateful for that. I am sorry I never asked him about his time as a combat medic in World War Two. But we thank him for that and his excellent life as a businessman, broadcaster, supporter of journalism and of course for his family. Sincerely, Jeffrey R. Weiser/NYC

Remembering Mr. George Diab on the anniversary of his passing I recall some advice he gave me when I was a reporter/anchor at WWAY. He told me how he used to take information on the phone and write news scripts at the same time! That's how he used to hustle when he was a news and sports director, apparently at WTRF in Wheeling.
When we were at WWAY, I never knew Mr. Diab served as a medical paratrooper in WW 2. I wish I'd asked him about that.
I also noticed...

My first job was at WWAY-TV. I was hired as a receptionist working with Annie Mac Weeks, whom we lost in 2010. A scared and nervous young African American woman in an environment that I did not know held wonderful potential for my future. I remember Mr. Diab often coming into the lobby, standing at the glass door and just staring off into the distance like he was meditating, always kindly speaking hello Janice. He didn't really say much to me but his smile and reassuring demeanor left a...

Dear Diab family: I am so very sorry for your recent loss of Mr.Diab.Mr. Diab was always a joy to talk too. Please cherish all of your wonderful memories together.

Mr. George was a wonderful inspiration to me. He always had quick wit, clever sense of humor, quick smile and a peaceful spirit. Although I'm sad I won't see him anymore this side of heaven I can only hope I'm as full of life as he was at 90 years old!
Your name lives on sir, it was a pleasure to have spent time with you and Miss Kitty.
Diab Family - Although your grieving....Be proud! You have been blessed by being lead by this most
interesting and respectable man!

Samuel Clemens is credited with the observation, "If you want insight into a man's character, try working for him" I had the pleasure of working for George, and the privilege of being his friend. I worked for George from his first day at WWAY, until the day he retired. No man could have had a better or fairer boss. George was instrumental in my growth as an Engineer, and as a person. His guidance and direction was invaluable.

I will always remember and treasure his personal...

I was so sorry to hear of George's passing. He was a dear friend and a wonderful part of my life. Our memories of the times we spent with you and George will never be forgotten. I am so sorry I was not able to honor George by attending his funeral. I will alway remember how much he loved you Kitty, as well as his children. He touched many lives through his kindness and thoughtfulness. Know that he was an inspiration to everyone that was fortunate enough to know George. May...
