George Wayne Dietrich

I just learned of Wayne’s death through the Northwestern News. Wayne was one of the finest people that I have ever met. We met of all places in a mens room at TI on orientation day for summer college interns in 1966. Someone in the restroom asked me what school I went to. I said “Northwestern.” Wayne heard that, introduced himself. We talked and amazingly car-pooled for the summer of 1966. He really was such a good guy and such a wonderful person. I feel very fortunate to have known him and worked alongside him and all of you for so many years. His enjoyment of a good challenge and the reward of meeting that challenge along with his love of family and friends made him so very special. His spirit will live on in all of us.

Wayne was such a gracious person. The countless times he went the extra mile to help me with proposals or reviews at work, or to solve performance issues with circuits that had been in production for many years and no longer met performance specifications. The many times he helped repair power equipment or furniture. And oh, the trip in his Fiero to the Indianapolis 500! Wasn't able to see him much over the last several years....sad, he will be missed! Wayne was my next door neighbor. I considered him as a family member. He was so full of life. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prays go out to the family. Patti Good
