George J. El-Hajj

The best! It's 2024 and I still think of him, he was unforgettable, sorry I didn't take his offer to meet him for lunch! I missed my opportunity! Homeroom 309!

Fond memories of Mr. El Hajj as a student at Irvington hs senior year! He was a great teacher, I still love Science today. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends and all who knew him. I just happened to think back on my hs years, looked his name up. May he Rest In Peace I also joined the Air Force after hs.

Our love and sympathy to George's family. We will always remember him as an excellent teacher and wonderful friend. In recent years when we were down from NH we met him with our daughter, Donna Caffrey, at Irma and Mario's restaurant. George was always so happy to see us. I had Mr. El-Hajj for chemistry in 1969-1970. He was one of those teachers who touched their students' lives and left a lasting imprint. I am fortunate to have known him.

Mr. El-Hajj was a great teacher and touched many students lives in a positive way.

i was so saddened when i read of mr el-hajj's passing. he was my homeroom teacher for 3 years (i took the attendance for him). there were several of us in my family that had him and i believe he had 4 of us for homeroom.

he was the best teacher i ever had; he taught more then just chemistry.

george was a terrific human being; had much to offer all the kids in school whether you took his class or not. so kind and soft spoken. he truly loved what he did as well...

Mr. El-Hajj was my favorite teacher at Irvington High and one of the best teachers--and perhaps the most influential teacher--I have ever had. Though he gave me the worst grade I received in high school, his course prepared me so well for college that I ended up majoring in chemistry (as did the two other IHS alums who attended college with me), going on for a graduate degree, and teaching science and chemistry for several years. I am a lawyer now--and have been for over 30...

Dear Jean and Family:

It is with the deepest sense of regret that me, my brothers Arnie and Jeff and my mother learned of the passing of your dear brother. He was such a special individual.

George had significant impact on each of us. His love of teaching and his students knew no bounds. We were all fortunate to have known him.

I always loved Mr. El-Hajj. He was by far my favorite teacher at IHS. I still have a birthday card that he sent me when I graduated in 1970. He was a specatacular human being.
