Not sure what to say?

Meade and a few of his many fans.

My husband was in one of Meade's classes and I had the pleasure of meeting him at a University of Iowa law school reunion one year. He was a favorite of so many and also became a favorite of mine. I treasure a letter I received from him. Sorry to be so late with my condolences, but I've been out of the loop for several years.

Ann, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Cory (Balto., MD)

Jenny and I remember Meade very fondly from our time as colleagues on the law faculty at Davis. His sparkling conversation, good cheer, and empathetic personality invariably lifted the spirits of all around him. (Among other things, we had fun talking about quirks of language--e.g., Meade wondered, why do they say someone's batting average is xyz "ON" the season?) Dear Deborah, Thank you for this" Guest Book". It almost captures the joy of knowing Meade. He brightened every gathering and inspired us to think clearly as he challenged long held views on how to honor the privilege of freedom in this country. Today from home, I cherish recalling the silliness of some unfettered pranks of youth... before he discovered you. Lucky, wise man. Love, susan m

Ann,
Although I have not met you, your Dad or the rest of your family, I have been with you on this journey through a mutual friend, Rebecca Grossman.
I am still on the journey of caregiving for my Mom as you are with yours. Just know that your life and your Dad's life has inspirationally touched someone that you dont know.
My prayers are with you and your family today and tomorrow and for however long you need them.
Stay in Grace,
Terene Bennett

Lovely obit, what a force and personality he was! BIG in every way, charm, wit, brilliance, knowledge, unwavering dedication and in the end strength and fortitude becoming of him. Our deepest and most heart felt sympathies go out to his wife and children who we know will miss him dearly.
