My mother, Mary DeGraff Woodall, took a ride around Seattle with her 1st cousins, George, Florence, and Phil when she was 12, about 1929. Her parents, William and Maydie DeGraff, had moved to New York from Seattle and only saw their cousins that one time. It was great to read of the remarkable life led by her cousin.

Nick...my sister Nancy and I both send our condolences to you with the passing of your Dad. George was a great guy! Our families started spending time together in Seattle and Tide Point before you were born. As a kid I loved walking with George and your Mom and listening to his and Scotty's stories of life on the island. I trust your kids and grandkids enjoyed their special moments with him as I did. Thinking of you and your family with very fond memories.

George Fahey and my great grandmother, Bessie Vradenburg, were first cousins. When I was growing up, she sometimes took me downtown (Seattle) and we'd stop in to Fahey-Brockman's to say hello to George. I remember him as a very kind man. Their common great-grandparents were Nicholas and Alice Potts Barry. I have Alice's prayer book. My prayers are with George's family.

I will always remember Mr. Fahey and his championing of Casey's beginnings in Texas. His legacy on the Board of Trustees is often spoken of today. I am truly glad to have known him. Carolyne Rodriguez
