FARIS, GEORGE Of Flint, age 89, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Friday, September 21, 2018 Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint, Father Hanna Tayyar officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Masses Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint, MI 48532, in George's name. Visitation 2-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Michigan. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Friday at church until the time of the Mass. George was born in Flint on December 30, 1928, the son of Fred and Mary Faris. George graduated from Northern High School. He was married to Juanita Louise Teachenor for 70 years. George was well known as an expert furrier, tailor and men's stylist and was affectionately referred to as "Mr. Downtown" by many. He began his career in 1944 at Ferris Brothers and then worked for both Blackstone's Men's Clothing and Parvizi Clothing Company, retiring in 2005. George was a proud family man, and he truly was the best "Jidu" and "Big Jidu" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved pulling their teeth, giving them treats, and filling up their piggy banks. Surviving are wife, Louise; sister, Jeanette Walterhouse; children, Linda (Owen), Fred (Paula), and George (Shawn); grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris), Tim (Danielle), Tali (Travis), Mike (Sheila), Ryan (Julia), Justin and Mallori; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Elsie, Lucia, Piper, Trent, Jude and Ariana; and countless other family members that loved him.
