I was very stunned to hear about George's quick passing. Such a wonderful person who, for me, was such an important part of my eleven years in Chicago. It was hearing his stories of growing up in Chicago, living in S.F., teaching, and of his many travels that endeared me to Chicago forever. Even though I wasn't extremely close to "Uncle George", I will always have fond memories of him. Right away he felt like family to me, and every year for Christmas he would give me a big bag of loose change that he had collected throughout the year! I had so much fun as a child, counting it and putting it in coin wrappers. Besides introducing me to architecture, classical music, Minocqua, beautiful cars, Chicago, and so much more, you were a great friend, mentor, and role model. Although I will be unable to attend the service, I am glad I had the chance to see you last week to say good-bye. I miss you already.
