Not sure what to say?

Mrs. Flournoy and family, Brownie was a close friend to me for about a year when we worked together at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods and automotive department. He was a great encouragent to me at an impressionable time in my life. I had moved to Auburn from Michigan and went right to work with him at Wal-Mart, and he made this yankee feel welcomed to the south. As you know he was a kind and generous person, and I wll never forget him or the impression he made on me and all those who worked...

Dear Flournoy Family,
Your Dad meant a lot to our family. He was friends with my Dad from college and worked with my husband. He was beloved by all who knew him. We would love to know about your family and where you live now.

Mrs. Flournoy, Pat and Mikki,
I was deeply saddened to hear of
Mr. Flournoy's,"Brownie's", death.
His gentle nature and smiling face will always be a part of my memory of him.
Please know that you are in my prayers.

Merle, Mickie & Pat,
I am writing on behalf of myself and my mother Rex Barrington. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Brownie was such a wonderful person and both Mother and Daddy thought so highly of him [and you Merle.] I was so comforted to see you both at Daddy's funeral...it really meant a lot to our family and he was such a bright spot in so many people's lives. We weren't able to find out when a service is/was but we send you much love. Your friends, Rex and Cindy...

Mrs. Flournoy,
My mother called me in Plano, TX to tell me the sad news. I am so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Flournoy. Growing up and as a close friend of Pat's, I always respected your family. Pat and I spent many wonderful times with your family, giving me memories to last a life time. Take care and know we are thinking of you and your family; Mr. Flournoy will be missed by many.

Sent on behalf of Janet Donnelly Hakami and Mrs. E.D. Donnelly (my mother).

Merle,

I treasure the time that I was able to spend with the two of you. Brownie was a great inspiration to me as he was to apparently countless others. I miss sitting in the breezeway talking and listening to his stories. God bless you and your family.

"Brownie" was a daily presence in my boyfriend's life the three years he lived at AU's athletic dorm '69-'72. Years after we married, I'd still hear stories of how "Brownie" was so important to the athletes as a role model; he had their respect! I went to high school with Mickie & Pat and knew them to be role models for young girls as well. Their family served our community well.

Merle, We learned about Brownie's death yesterday in the O-A News. We are so sorry to hear about his death and know that you miss him terribly. He was a giving and caring man and our whole family thought very highly of you both. We let Keith know about this and he too was saddened. Our prayers will be with you. Love from your Auburn friends, Gene & Marcia Hill

Our love goes out to you, Merle, and to the girls and their families, in your loss of Brownie. We know how your hearts must ache...deep deep down inside...for this outstanding, though gentle man! He will live on in all of our hearts forever. What a great man!
