Not sure what to say?

I met George in December at the Bead Art store in Newtonville. He was feeling weak but his mind was sharp. He proudly showed me some of his silver pieces. I had recently been in Vienna and he shared some stories from the war and his role in the resistance. It was a true privilege to meet him.

I enjoyed George as dad of my good friend Peter. George showed interest easily in the people and things that surrounded him and this would lead to the exchange of engaging dialog that would enrich the participant. I was previleged to witness George's passion for creating artistic jewelry. When he reached into his pocket, you knew another artistic treasure would surface and a new "lesson" was about to start.
George lives on in memory and artifact!

It was a pleasure to know George in his final years. He was so kind to my nephew who lived in the same house with him. George was a fascinating person to talk to because he knew so much and had experienced so much. I enjoyed hearing about his first years in this country. He relished the company of others and was a caring, intelligent person.

I send my sincere condolences to his family.

I had the privelege of knowing George as a fellow artist. He visited and called Handworks Gallery many times over the 10 years that I have worked there and we shared in several artistic conversations. But, we also shared many lifetime experiences and stories. He was one of the most fascinating people I have ever known. So knowledgeable about so many topics and so young for his 86 years. I had the distinct honor of typing several of the pages of his memoirs about a year ago. I shall miss...

My son Andrew lived on Newtonville Avenue in the same house as George for the past 3 years. George was so kind and protective of Andrew. I loved to stop by and talk to George; he knew so much about so many topics. On January 4, we all went out to dinner for my son's birthday and Andrew insisted that George come with us. We had so much fun and so enjoyed having George with us. What a wonderful, intelligent, giving man.
