My deepest sympathies go out to George's family today. I know this is a great loss for you, as it is for the photographer community here in Michigan.
I don't think I could be more shocked and saddened by the death

Although I never met George in the real sense, we exchanged many e-mails. He gave me much information that we freelancers need to survive. We were also friends. He was a kind man who loved his daughter (and I'm sure his wife) very much.
I'll miss him very much.

Successful photographers are perceptive, caring and dedicated. They see what is going on around them and quickly respond according to their best judgement. They seek to understand their subjects and to portray them accurately. Finally, successful photographers are dedicated to their craft and practice it with passion and enthusiasm. These were qualities in George that made him not only a successful photographer, but a great guy who will be missed by all of us who knew him.
