George Lee Hackney

I am a history teacher at Greenwood Lab School in Springfield, MO. George and I exchanged emails in the fall of 2022 about his family story, particularly about his brother. He sent me a copy of The Legacy of Lee´s Trunk, which I greatly enjoyed. I really enjoyed connecting with him. For some reason, the Hackney family story during the Greenwood years is a story that has captured my imagination. I am very sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Loren Broaddus

Lee I´m sorry to read of your dads death.

I worked with George for many years and I also served with George as a member of the board of directors for the Eye Bank. He is one of the finest people I have ever known. Extremely smart and talented but I will remember him more for his kindness and efforts to help other people. The world was a better place with George Hackney in it, I will miss him. Don Chandler

George was a dear friend of mine for 47 years. Our friendship began when he was my supervisor at Luckie and has continued for all these years. He has always been my biggest cheerleader and a huge guiding hand for me in the business. He will be missed by many.
