Baker Funeral Home - Queensbury Obituary

Lake George, Northumberland and Silver Springs, FL- George A Heinrich Jr., 67, of Brampton Lane, passed away, Tuesday, January 31, 2017 with his loving wife, daughter, and sister by his side.
George was born on May 9, 1949 in Glens Falls the son of George A. Heinrich Sr. and the late Lena Mary-Frances Heinrich.

He graduated from South Glens Falls High School and Adirondack Community College with an Associates of Science Degree. He worked for Scott Paper Company for over 25 years beginning as a laborer and working his way up to an Instrumentation Specialist. When the company was sold he started his own business (ITECH) working with local fire companies repairing their gauges. Later, he was hired by International Paper Company where he worked as a Facility Trainer until 2016 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

George married Fran in 1971 and they resided in Lake George until 2013. In the early years, he was a part-time Police Officer for the Village of Lake George and a member of the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department.

He and Fran moved to Northumberland in 2013 to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and their grandson William George, whom he cherished.

In addition to his beloved mother, he is predeceased by his grandparents, Madeline and Raymond Fischer and Mona Adkins and Heinz Heinrich, and his uncles, Raymond, Arthur and Jack Fischer and Heinz Heinrich

He is survived by his wife Fran (Baker); his daughter Kelly Farmer and her husband Rick; grandson William of Northumberland; his father George A. Heinrich Sr. of Gansevoort; his sister Frances and her husband Tim Donbeck; his aunts Eleanor and Gladys Fischer, and Marie Lanigan; his sister-in-law Karen Sipowicz; brother-in-law Beecher (Karen) Baker; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his ever protective dog, Koda.

George didn’t have an enemy. He was a selfless hardworking man always putting others before himself. He didn’t have many hobbies as work was his hobby, but he loved traveling to his Florida home and he looked forward to moving there one day. He bravely fought Glioblastoma, having surgery, radiation and chemo, but in the end, God saw how tired he was and took his hand and called him home.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

The funeral service will immediately follow at noon at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Harrison, pastor of St. Clements Church in Saratoga, officiating.

Burial will be private at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake George in the spring.

Friends and family are welcome to a gathering at the family home.

The family would like to thank Community Hospice, Saratoga especially Kelli Foley and Karen Buczkowski, and the Massage and Rieki Volunteers. We would also like to thank all the Doctors, nurses and support staff at Saratoga and Glens Falls Hospitals.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Saratoga Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, and the Gansevoort EMS, 1870 Route 32N, Gansevoort, NY 12831.

Always be ready for anything in life because life is short and you don’t have time to practice for everything before it happens.

At our final Thanksgiving Dinner George said,” I’m thankful for the way I see things in life”.   We’re oh so thankful for you George.

Condolences may be mailed to the funeral home, or e-mailed through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.

Missing you

Love and miss you so much. Life so hard without you. I miss your laugh, your quick wit and your guidance. Forever just you and me ❤

2020 certainly was a bad year George.. Hopefully this pandemic gets over quickly.. I know you are in Heaven watching over your family.. Love and miss you my friend..

2020 a terrible year with this COVID mess. I still think about you George. Three years now.

I think about Mr. George from time to time. I sure miss talking with him on the phone when he would call our office. I enjoyed very much our conversations, as infrequent as they were. He was truly one of the "Good Guys". My life has been truly blessed by the friendship I had with George. Love to his family.

Almost 2 months since you left us. I still can't believe you won't be coming home from some training with all the funny stories. I'll love and miss you for the rest of my life

All my memories of George go back to my childhood, when our family would visit with George and Fran on Friday nights playing cards. They loved seeing my dad get excited when he lost the poker games. I remember a very happy active man, as a kid I loved watching him directing traffic in Lake George when he was a part time police officer, he was very passionate about everything he did. Then the snowmobile trips up Prospect Mountain. When Fran and George attended my high school Graduation. Most...

All my memories of George involve hugs, smiles and lots of laughter. I cherish the memories of our lunches with George and Fran. We always laughed as we ate and enjoyed talking and catching up on the latest news. He is sorely missed and left a huge hole in everyone's life that knew him. My heart and prayers are with Fran and all of George's family.

My heart goes out toFran,Kelly,William,Rick and Heinrich family.George was a hard worker and good provider for his family. He was a very smart person.
My first memory of George was when he met Fran. As in the movie BAMBI he was TWITTER PATED. He was later by her side when she needed him the most after a fatal accident. As she was with him his last days forever love. I remember special highlights throughout their lives. One special memory was the last time I saw George his humor and memory...
