Not sure what to say?

We miss you George! You live on in your family, friends and nature you loved.

I am so sad to know that George passed away so young. He was one of my favorite, and most ecologically committed students, at Winona State and one of the my very best colleagues in Winona County. We served on Winona County Parks and Natural Resource committees, where his leadership was exemplary. We lost a fine man and environmentalist.

Thank you, George, for all you did for natural resources in the Driftless Area. You did amazing work conserving and protecting land as well as raising awareness about the value and beauty of the Driftless. You put your values to work on your own land, as well as helping others protect and restore theirs. We’ll miss your exuberant nature and optimism!

George lit up every room he entered with his infectious smile. His support for the arts and the environment were admirable and will live on through his work. George, thank you for shining your light on the Driftless community. Peace...

Go in peace George and thank you for all that you have done for others and the great outdoors. Our prayers are with Cheryl and the family. God Bless!

Howie,, so sorry to read about your brother. Take care. John Dickson

I didn't know George but my brother Glen did. I knew his sister Jenny. I remember getting together with Jenny for a jam at their home on North Ridge. Very nice family. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your loved one.

“Take your time, I’ve got you”, George told me as he put his foot firmly behind mine on the slippery south slope of the Castle Rock property. It was an exploration we would both return to several times in preparation for yet another conservation effort.

Within the sadness of the past week, I have wondered how many times George has helped folks exploring the treasured Mississippi bluff lands to find a new footing, an understanding of the land and it’s real long term value. ...

I got to know George professionally through the land trust community. He was great. I worked more with his brother John and my heart aches for him and his family for their loss. While it may be painful now know that, in time, as you move around the Driftless Area your memories of him with fill your heart warmly. Bless you all.
