What a shock! My aunt and I were driving past his shop a few days ago and we said, it looked as if the shop was closed. We both used George's shop when our cars needed work. I knew George only through his business but what an amazing businessman he was. His work was flawless and expert. And he was also an amazing erson. His ethics were incredible. A couple of times when I took my car there he didn't even charge for a correction he made. His normal rates were beyond fair. He was...

In 8th grade I sold my chemistry set to George Hughes and Dave McCarthy and they added it to the growing laboratory they were assembling in the basement at George's house. At one point they attempted to make nitroglycerine and, doubting that it actually worked, put a small drop on an anvil and hit it with a hammer! They said their ears were ringing for days! He could have been a great chemist :-) Actually, in my memory of him, I have no doubt he would have been successful at anything he put...

To the Hughes Family - I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing George through the running community. His spirit and light was infectious. Always friendly, very supportive and just a really good human. It was an honor to know him. Sincerest condolences to you all.

I have known the Hughes family from back in 80s. I used to work next store at the AM/PM. And have had a couple of cars repaired by them. I am so sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you during this hard time.
