Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Ivey's passing. I too have very fond memories of Ivey's Department store. I started as a 17 year old high school senior and work for 20 years with Ivey's/ Dillards.
There were so many wonderful people there. I remember getting a kick when Kit would come into the the store...such spunk. Mary and I were seniors at Myers Park. Everyone was like family in the store. As a matter of fact, I worked there 20 years. My mother retired after 35 years and my brother and...

I went to work in the Corporate Office of J. B. Ivey & Company in 1970. I was secretary to the Secretary and Treasurer and the Controller. I saw many changes and fascinating interactions in my 15 years there. Mr Ivey was a wonderful man. He would tell me how it was growing up in the South. The many things a young man growing up in his position could not do to sow those wild oats. He had a quiet dignity, with a chaser of mischief. I remember when Robert insisted I get a new car. I was...

My condolences to this Family. My mother Betty Derrick and my sister Mickie Holden worked for Ivey's and both had a love for the company. Mr. Ivey will be greatly missed by many.

Dear Mrs. George M. Ivey & Family,

I just attended the Service of Worship in Memory of George Ivey Jr. I was proud to be there, as a former executive for Ivey's Department stores. Mr. Ivey, as I called him, brought me to the Ivey's "team" from Macy's in New York. I and my family will be forever thankful for this opportunity that he gave to us.
Ivey's was one of the best companies that I have worked for, because of it's people.

With Appreciation & Sympathy, Kevin

I worked in the credit department for years. This job was my first job when I moved to Charlotte in 1979. I learned so much while working there. It helped me through out my working career. Mr. Ivey's office was down the hallway. He had a sense of humor. He always called me "little lady". When I was expecting my daughter, who is now 30, he would tease me and say he did not know if he wanted to ride the elevator with me. He would say he was afraid I would go into labor. Pleasant...

Tom and I have fond memories of working as buyers for George Ivey in the 1960's. Ivey's will always have a special place in our hearts. So sorry for your loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with your family

My sincerest condolences to Jean, Kit, Mary, etc. Mr. Ivey was always a pleasure to interact with, and to say he lived a full life would be an understatement. They don't make them like that anymore, a great man from the greatest generation. He will truly be missed.

Jean and Family, my sincerest condolences. I really enjoyed our discussions in the front room over the past several years. You could still grasp the unique stature and see what a fine gentleman that he was. Thank You Peirce and Kit for the introduction that gave me the honor of knowing him. I'll miss him.

I had the honor of meeting George Ivey, Jr. during my early years of working at the Mint Museum of Art. He was a true leader within the city of Charlotte and he was a most generous individual. He built a wealth of personal accomplishments and professional achievements which were shared with many within this community and beyond! Today his business successes and contributions continue as testimonials that George Ivey was so very special. My condolences to his family, friends and business...
