Not sure what to say?

little late with this tribute. first time I met George was when he was a freshman at st Rita and I was playing for lituanica, we played together during the summer and I was alway impressed with his talent and personality. I was five years older than George so didn't get to play with him that often. still mention him as some of the best I have ever played with

George will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to all family and friends.

A little known fact of which few are aware, George Janky was our gym teacher at Kiser High School. A great person! Very happy to have met him Mackie Lawrence

George was a wonderful person, a terrific teammate and friend. As we look back we realize we spent hours together almost everyday of our life at UD - playing basketball, sharing meals, or just chatting in the dorm about life and basketball. To Kim and Madison, Kerry, and Katie and their families we want you to know how lucky we feel to have first met George at the Flyer Basketball Picnic that summer of 1966 as part of the 1966-70 recruitment class. George was always the focal point and...

George was as they say "simply the best!!"

My name is frank covich standing next to george in this high school photo. He was such a great guy and basketball star. One time i was on a summer team in one of the chicago parks. Then I looked up and saw George enter the park with another group and just looked up with my friends and sad O Crap they Got George the best player on my St Rita high school team. I cant deal with him! It was always a joy to be around him. Coach Galvin loved him but did he put the fear of God into us, he...

Was in the same class with George at St. RITA GRAMMER School. He was a great basketball player then and at Dayton. My condolences to his family. Yolanda Jurisica Kelly

George was a senior when my brother and I were freshmen. He was always a class act and one of the truly good guys!! Our condolences to the family.

When one thinks of Flyer stars of the past, George might not be foremost on the list...but he should be. He personified everything a Flyer should be: tough, loyal, hard-working, proud and committed to winning. God broke the mold after creating George Janky, and we might never see another one like him again. RIP, most selfless Flyer ever!
