Not sure what to say?

Hard to believe George has been absent from us for the last 4 years. His name occasionally comes up amongst the backdrop of his friends at Fairhope Rotary where he was such a fixture and fine example of the ideals of Rotary.

Marilyn (deceased) and I visited George and Gene in their new Fairhope home and we had a lot of fun. George shared the story of getting lost from his aircraft carrier in the Pacific and finding it before running out of fuel. He was a hero in my eyes. I think of him a lot about moments we shared in Asheville along with all the other great people we knew there. Bill Oakes

We have a lot of great memories of George and Gene in Asheville NC. He was certainly a terrific person both professionally and personally. We will miss him.

We were friends of George and Gene when we lived in Brigham City, Utah. They were great, caring friends. Actually they both were exceptional friends. As we know, George was bright, tolerant, and was a good father, husband, friend and mentor. We feel blessed to have known George and Gene while living in Utah.

Condolences to you, Gene, and your family. What a blessing it was for me to have met and known this warm and gentle giant. May his star continue to shine above us.
Warmest regards
bj Cooper

Dear Gene, we just received word that George had passed away. We send our love and condolences to you and your family. He will be missed. Dick and Peggy

We all knew George was a great American. He was a very successful Christian, Businessman, husband, father, friend, soldier, citizen and American. He did it all, and always was kind and generous. We all will miss him dearly.

What a great gentleman and Fairhope Rotarian who lived the Rotary motto "Service above self!" Never saw him that he didn't say "hello" and smile. Brilliant and yet humble, my kids who served in the fire service were astounded to meet him and acknowledged the countless lives he saved over the years by his air bags! Thank you George for being a Fairhope luminary! You are missed but fondly remembered.

George was a Prince of a man, and he adored his beautiful brilliant Princess Gene. Together, the two of you have made priceless contributions to our community and universe. Gene, you will no doubt carry on this amazing legacy. ❤☮
