I will never forget all the times growing up with my Uncle George, his laugh, love for his family and dedication to his family and friends. He will always hold a special place in my heart that no one will ever replace. I look forward to seeing him again by the gates with open arms saying " My Sandy"... I hope he's up there singing with the angels, I love you Uncle George and will be looking for you when it's my time to join you!!!! xoxoxoxo

I will never forget my Uncle George....such a great man with a very large heart. Whenever I was with him he always had a special knack of making me feel like I was the most special person around. His laugh was infectious! I will always miss you....love you Uncle George!

Uncle George...I remember whenever I entered a room with Uncle George in it, it was a happy room! His kisses, deep laughing voice, and hugs, always made the long trip to visit worthwhile. I wish so much I saw him more...I wish my little boy was blessed to know him. He will know him through my stories and never ending fond memories :)

May his memory be eternal. George, along with choir members of St. Mary's, sang at my First Divine Liturgy in 1979, He was a wonderful cantor; one of the last in a great tradition. His love for his church inspired me.
I will remember him in the Divine Liturgy.

Helen, George Jr., Billie, Karen: I had a mass said for George last night at the St. Louis Byzantine Catholic Mission.
I'm so glad now that I visited St. Mary's in Jersey City a couple of years ago to hear the choir once again, George's beautiful voice and receive one of his wonderful hugs. I have fond memories of him from when I was a little girl. I'm certain he is now directing the heavenly angels in beautiful song. Vichnaya Pamyat, George. Say hello to my Mom when you get...

I grew up listening to stories about the Kmecks and the Chabins. Being a Polanin, it seemed somehow, we were all cousins. As we grew, my brothers, sister and I sang in the choir at St. Elias in Carteret, N.J. It was always a treat during the Choir Festivals to hear all the cantors perform folk songs and sacred hymns. Mr. Kmeck always shared his gift of song with others, as well as his good nature and faith. My prayers are with you. Eternal Memory!

To me George was the older brother that I never had. I learned to sing standing next to him in the Basso section of St. Mary's. My family will miss him. Under his inspired direction St. Mary's Choir preserved our sacred music for posterity with their beautiful recordings. I'll bet that George, Steve and Prof are singing in Heaven. Eternal Memory!
