Not sure what to say?

George Longstaff: A man whose wisdom, compassion and understanding were like a rock to me during the early years of my teaching career. I leaned on George for advice and he was always there with a great sense of humour and an optimistic spirit. I will never forget the look on his face when he was presented with a canoe for his retirment from Coquitlam. George was a courageous man who touched so many. He will never be forgotten!

On behalf of the Severson Family we send out heart felt sympathy to the Longstaff Family. George was one of the genuine NICE GUYS who always had a smile on his face and character full of warmth and sincerity. George may be gone but will be missed and not forgotten. I personally enjoyed many visits to the Longstaff family at their Ranch Park home and have may fond memories of parties, games, watching TV,playing with the cats or just chatting.Val and George always made us young folks feel so...

Dad, I think of you every day and miss you too. Our talks about working out, fitness, world events, the grand kids, and the 'dipsticks' in politics. You would be sad to know that Jack Layton just passed away from prostate cancer too. He was far younger than you though so you did very well with over the years with the disease. Every time I walk along the inlet I see you paddling or jogging or walking the paths. I'm reminded of the outdoor ed program you developed at Rocky Point every time i...

I have known George since he married my sister, Valerie McEntee, in 1957. He was my BIG BROTHER in every sense of the word. He was a wonderful brother to me & I cry everyday because he HAS GONE TO SOON.His wife Valerie & daughters; Karen, Lynne, & Michelle & grandchildren Connor & Kaylee & son-in-law Regan Williams & myself still needed him in our lives. He was the Patriarch of the family and we all feel
very lost without him. Life will never be the same for us, I'm afraid. Peace is now...

Those of us who were deep into PE know how much George meant to each of us and the health of the district. We always looked forward to his remarks after a tour of some great school in California or elsewhere. Once he came back and was blown away by the fact that at the push of a button, the gym floor disappeared to reveal a full swiming pool. Another time he was sad to report that California was so libility conscious that the students were not allowed to more the equipment - box,...

Valerie -our heartfelt condolences to you and the children - George was a good man and a well loved and respected individual who will be sadly missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of George's passing. As a principal in SD 43 for many years I got to know, admire and respect George for his caring, balanced and enthusiastic promotion of fitness and sport throughout the school system and beyond. He was, amongst other things 'Mr Daily PE' and those many of us whom he persuaded to get involved in the project were delighted to have his 'know-how' and open-minded and generous support. We soon saw the benefits for all the children... and I do mean...
