George Marsaglia

I took Professor Marsaglia's course in computational linear algebra at WSU in 1985. The course was excellent and he was a exceptional instructor.

I'm writing from Cambridge, England. George touched thousands of people all over the world with his kindness. His willingness to engage with anyone who was interested in the topic on which he was the world's greatest expert, random numbers, was wonderful. He continued to post innovative ideas and answers to questions until only a few days before he died. He will be much missed.

I was a student at Montana where George taught Mathematics. We played tennis quite often after school, and he would be working on some matrix math problem while we played. He said he played basketball at Colorado State and graduated in two years... quite a guy! Richard White, MSU '55

George is fondly remembered by those who knew him in the statistics department at FSU, and we were all saddened to hear of his death.

Thank you all, for your kind comments about my father and the feelings of loss you express. He will be greatly missed as a wonderful husband to Doris, as a tremendous father, to me and Michelle and as an amazing grandfather to our Chris and Nicole. My biggest hope is, that if you know Doris and saw the love he had for her, that you will continue to support her and be a part of her life.
