George was one of a kind. I was lucky to have been inspired by him in his AP history class at Ferris. So kind, so funny and witty and interesting--and such a pleasure for my mother, Dorothy Darby Smith, when he stepped in, as he did for decades, to help her mount theatre in Spokane. George was a treasure--so, too, my memories of him.
