Mr. Melvin was one of the patriarchs of our community while we were growing up on Wegman Parkway and I valued his presence and involvement in our lives. Although I've been gone from Jersey City for over 30 years, Mr. Melvin maintained contact via social media and I was always happy to have an opportunity to connect with him.
