Not sure what to say?

I am very late in posting this note, but better than not at all. I will miss George. He was an incredibly nice guy, an excellent meteorologist, and a good friend. As a climatologist at Portland State University, he and I had many professional interactions, and became fast friends. I loved keeping track of him in his retirement years as he kept busy with his writing and other passions. Every minute I spent George over the years was a treat!

After retiring from NOAA/NWS in 1994 he went to work for Clackamas Comm. College for a short time. George got hired at Marylhurst University as a adjunct Science Professor where he taught the PNW Weather & Climate class for 20 years. He was among the first to teach an online class. George enjoyed teaching this class twice a year and had students from across the USA. It is interesting to note that George was shining in the golden light of his own Renaissance Era with his new careers as...

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. George was a great person and good Manager.

We appreciate George's leadership of the NWS office, Oregon AMS, and his thoughtful Weather Watching articles for our newsletters. He was a kind and generous man. Condolences from the team at Columbia Weather Systems.

I had the profound pleasure of working along side George in the Oregon Historical Society Museum Store starting in 2003. George taught me so much about Oregon's history and weather. He was a kind, caring, generous, intelligent, and humorous man that I miss dearly. My condolences to Janice, Chris, and all of his wonderful family.

I have known George since 1962. He always was nice to work with and had a quick wit. We both liked to compare gardening issues and weather observations we both like to keep. We will always miss him.

My sympathy and condolences go to Janice and the family. I will always remember George as a good man. I always looked forward to seeing George when he came into my insurance office. He was one of my favorite persons. Heaven is a better place now that George is there. May God give peace and comfort to the family.

On behalf of the entire Oregon Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), we offer our sincerest condolences to George's family, on his passing. He was such a talented and accomplished man. He will be missed by many.

Uncle George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and friend to many. He was generous and kind, with a quick wit and keen sense of humor. He will be missed a lot. Rest in peace.
