Not sure what to say?

George hired me as his assistant at The Ohio State University in 1986 to help him launch dozens of Business Retention and Expansion Programs throughout Ohio. This was my first professional position in community economic development after grad school and I could not ask for a more passionate, dedicated, humble and respectful boss. He was a tireless advocate and trailblazer for BR&E programs and took great pride when other states began replicating his program. His eyes would sparkle as he...

I was a student of George's at Minnesota in the early 1990s, was thinking about some of the things he had taught me, looked him up and was saddened to read of his passing. He was such a nice, generous, intelligent man, so eager to teach and appreciative when a student responded to him. I will always remember him fondly and know that many other students who passed through his classes do the same. My sincere condolences on his passing - he was a wonderful man.

George was one of the most influential people in my professional life and a great friend. It is obvious that all who knew and worked with him had great respect for his ability to mentor. I was lucky enough to be a recipient. It was an honor to have worked with him.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the whole Morse Clan

George Morse was my academic advisor for Ph.D. dissertation at University of Minnesota. I was his first PhD student at U of M. He equipped me with knowledge and research skills. He taught me everything I needed to know as a scholar. He was a good teach, mentor, and friend. I miss him already.

George was my major advisor at the University of Minnesota. Eventually, I found my way to working for U of Mn Extension. George was a true champion of our work in Community Vitality. He was instrumental in shaping CV's work in Minnesota. He never forgot us either - always sending encouraging notes to push our work to the next level. Several of my favorite projects were due to a nudge from George. We also shared a love of libraries and that was a favorite topic of ours in recent years. I will...

Liz, Our hearts go out to you. We really enjoyed visiting with George when the bike group did Glendale CA so many years ago. God bless you special. Lenny & Georganne Volland

George was a natural teacher - always helping everyone with whom he interacted to learn. He helped me understand the meaning, value, and noble purpose of Extension, especially the role it could, should, and does play in community development. He was a true leader and visionary. Working through the redesign of Extension in Minnesota was one of the more challenging professional experiences of my life. Yet, George kept us focused on how to stay true to Extension's purpose while considering...

George Morse was the first state Extension specialist I met when I became National Program leader for economic development at USDA in 1985. My first assignment was to attend a Business Retention & Expansion training workshop George was leading in Columbus, OH. He could not have been a better instant colleague. I learned so much from him about Extension and BRE. In 1990 he played a big part in recruiting me to the University of Minnesota. We were Extension and Applied Economics colleagues...
