Not sure what to say?

My condolences to family and friends, and sorry to hear of George's troubles. We had met when George and his friend Jim Baumgartner (now gone as well) came to live at Bowles Hall at UC Berkeley. Later on the three of us and another student rented an apartment near the campus. George wrecked my academic career- he had a recording of Andres Segovia, and I was so taken by classical guitar that I started skipping class to learn to play on a guitar I borrowed from him. (There was a Bach prelude on...

Went to school with George from first grade at St Rose's until graduation from Hilltop. So sorry to hear of this outcome.

What a beautiful tribute to your brother and the family who steadfastly supported him. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember George as a brilliant scientist who took his German wife (Helga?), his brother Mike and myself on a week long ski trip to Mammoth in the late 60's. I was always amazed at George's brilliance, yet always his kindness would show through. My sincere condolences to the family.

As a neighbor I remember George conducting wave direction experiments in the family garage, surfing trips to Baja California and a very loving considerate family. George´s illness Changed a brilliant inquisitive mind and his warm friendly personality. As George´s obituary stated there but for fortune go any of us or our loved ones. Rest in Peace George.

As a childhood friend, I know how hard his mother,Mayfair, worked to provide for him and to provide a safe place for George. Thank you to the family for your continued love for him. Carol K Hermanson

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I was also a graduate of Hilltop High School Class of 1961. I remember George - so sorry to hear about his passing.

I didn’t know George but I’m very grateful to the family for writing such a compassionate and honest obituary about George and his struggles with mental health. Thank you.

I did not know George but I read his obituary notice in the newspaper this morning. I want to extend my condolences to the family and my gratitude for a compassionate, frank and loving description of his life. He clearly fought the best he could to bring all his talents into the world, and you his loving family showed a measure of loving devotion that is a gift to read about. I am saving this obituary to remind me to be compassionate and loving in my own family. Thank you for this great...
