George David Nama, age 75 of Owosso, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 24, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 11am, Pastor Nancy Powers will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
George was born on June 28, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan to the late
Mitchell and Helen (Abood) Nama. He graduated from Lansing Everett High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University. On August 24, 1963 George married Carol Spangler at the Perry United Methodist Church. George retired from Perry Schools after 23 years of teaching social studies and history. He was a lifelong photographer and horseman.
George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; his daughter Mary Lynn (Randy) Herman of Grayling, MI, his son Mitchell David (Carol) Nama of Philadelphia, PA, his grandchildren, Noah Shambarger, Emmett, Oscar, and Augustus Nama; his brothers, James (Carol) Nama of Grand Ledge, John Nama of New Mexico; and his sister, Pat Nama of Virginia; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother in-law, Sandy (Bob) Dunn.
Memorial contributions in Georges name are suggested to the Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee.
