George E. O'Connell

The thought of Thanksgiving brings memories of George. He enjoyed al the holidays that brought family together, and he contributed to the joy of the occasion. I remember back to late 70's on visiting the O'Connell family around Thanksgiving meant enjoying Christmas music, as this time of the year was Joan' s favorite and George delighted sharing this time with friends.

George's passing is a significant loss for me. Aside from his family he was the person who knew my deceased husband the longest, as they studied together at Notre Dame, and he delighted us with memories of that time. We reconnected when he came to the University of Connecticut and since then enjoyed his and Joan's friendship and have happy memories of our extended visits with our children who were born the same year. So sad to learn of George's passing. His kindness and gentle manner were so welcome and needed in this world. He genuinely cared, and the guests at the soup kitchen, and all of the rest of us, knew it. My condolences to George's family. May he rest in peace.
