George Parsons Obituary

NEW BERN - George Harry Parsons, 85, of New Bern, passed away on January 13, 2018. Born in Lewiston, Maine in the fall of 1932, George made his home in Maine for most of his life until moving to North Carolina in 2010 to be close to his family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked with the special needs community as a supervisor with the State of Maine until his retirement. In New Bern, George was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he enjoyed being a part of a weekly Men's Bible Study and volunteering with Unity Missions.
He is survived by his sister, Grace Canady; special friend, Diana Reid; niece, Shannon Canady; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, preceded by a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. in the sanctuary. He will be laid to rest in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his name to benefit the Unity Missions at Tabernacle Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.

Uncle George, our ER visits are over. You have a new, wonderful body now, no more difficulty breathing, no more heart failure, you're body is new and you're with our Lord now. We will miss you, but I'm glad you're all well now. It's been a rough life for you but all that's over now. And for someone with so little family, you have a ton of friends. We said goodbye to you today but we'll see you again. Victory in Jesus, Grace and Shannon
