I will always remember my friend and our Drum Major. Here we are at the World Championships in 2006 with the Sir James MacDonald Pipe Band. Merry Christmas and fond memories to his family.

I was Pipe Major of the Clan Macleay Pipe Band for nearly 25 years. During that time, Geordie was Drum Major, and thus an important partner in deciding a number of things, including marching routines. He also filled in as bass drummer, from time to time. But he was much more. He was a friend, and he was the center of many stories, mostly fun ones. We were all sad when he stepped away, even though he was attending practices to watch. He is so missed. My family has many wonderful memories of the Highland Games with the elegant Geordie marching out front. He will be missed!

I was a young engineering draftsman who arrived from Scotland on a Thursday in 1963. I went to a Scottish New Years celebration at Timberlanes bowling alley the following Saturday. Some of the pipe band were there and George struck up a conversation with me. I had been a drummer in a pipe band at home, so we had that in common. He asked about my back ground. He called me the following day, Sunday, to let me know that his daughter shared with him at breakfast, that the company she worked...
