George Perles Obituary
Detroit and East Lansing
George J. Perles, 85, of Detroit and East Lansing, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally; adoring children, Kathy of Washington, Pa., Terry (Tracey) of Pittsburgh, John (Amy) of Ada and Pat (Karen) of Kansas City; grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Kendall, Hannah, Joseph and Julia. George was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Julius and Nellie Perles. Funeral arrangements are private. A Celebration of Life is planned for the future. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Vista Springs Timber Ridge and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care of George and family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Special Olympics Area Eight, 2901 Wabash Rd., Lansing, MI 48910 or Making the Turn Against Parkinson's, 1861 Rowley Rd., Williamston, MI 48895

Coach Perles gave my son an opportunity to become a successful member of society. As a football full scholarship recruit, Coach Perles help me convince my son that football was just a game. But, education was prepreation for success on and off the field. I will always be grateful to Coach Perles and his staff, for their contribution to my son becoming the awesome son, husband, father, grandfather and all around great person that he is today. Thanks so much coach. Rest in Heavenly Peace Coach George Perles.

During the 80's it was all over the news, is George Perles leaving MSU or, will he stay?
The news reports said you could not be found.
I wandered over to Munn Ice Arena to look at the ice.
It was here I met you and I believe Doug Weaver.
I stuck out my hand and said, I sure hope there is a way you can stay coach.
You shook my hand like I was more than a student, like I was a person that mattered, and said thanks.
Doug Weaver told me, it's a done deal Jackson.
Thanks for the memories coach!
