Not sure what to say?

Dear Porter Family....It was with great pain that I heard about Georges passing. I know that the last couple of years had been a struggle, and the end is never easy for the family. I always admired and felt connected to George and the Porter Family and will miss my dear Friend George... You are all in my thoughts.

The kindness of George Porter touched many members of my family. He was a good friend to my parents Rosemary and Gerry and a supportive role model to my brothers who shared an SAE bond with his sons.
What I will remember most about "Dr. Porter" is the tremendous compassion and concern he showed for my family during my Dad's long illness. The time he took to check up on him and make sure he was getting the very best treatment was a great comfort during a difficult time.

Marthel, Jack, Bob, Doug and David - I was so sorry to hear that George passed away. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I wanted to come up for the celebration of his life but could not manage it on short notice. I was there with you in spirit. I have many fond memories of all of you. Someone else said you are all his greatest legacy and I could not agree more strongly. I worked for George for 13 years and got to know all of you during that time. It left me with some wonderful...

So sorry to hear of George's passing. A Sigma Chi, as was I, he graduated from OSC the year before I entered, but he was the first resident I, as a med student at UOMS, served under, and learned from. Over the years I read many of his papers, and recalled those by-gone days. May the peace of God rest with you, his family.

I met George when we were 15 and students at Salem High School and have been close friends since. His greatest legacy is his loving wife, Marthel, and family. May warm memories surround you and bring you comfort.

George Porter was a true friend of the OSU College of Science and its students, especially pre-meds. He served faithfully, long. and well on the College of Science Dean's Advisory Board and often attended the May event honoring scholarship holders. It was a great pleasure for me, the Dean (now retired), to meet with him, his wife, and his physician OSU alumni friends for two decades.

Bob - I read about your father's passing in the Oregonian. Please accept my sympathies and pass them along to your family. May the memories you hold in your heart sustain you through this tough time.
